Recent Exhibitions: Video Installations

2011  "The Warkari Cycle" (48 mins HD video) single-screen video installation. Direction Lucia King, co-produced with Seasongray films, Pune India (Rajula Shah). Premiered at the “Persistence/Resistance” Documentary Film Festival, London edition 2011, curated by Magic Lantern Foundation, New Delhi.

2010  "To Part and Return" (24 mins, HD video) screened at “Moves International Festival of Movement on Screen” Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool.

2009-10  "To Part and Return" was also exhibited/screened at The Bhavan Centre; Asian Art in London Festival; Artsadmin (London); the "Light Up!" Short Film Festival, in context of “Screen East”, Cambridge; and the Non-Multiplex TV group showroom, London.

This project was made in partnership with Veenapani Chawla, director of the Adishakti Centre, Pondicherry, South India about the practice of the acclaimed dancer/physical performer, Vinay Kumar.

2009  "Operation Infinity" (25 mins SD video) a project distributed online as well as video installation. Collaboration with director/choreographer: Bock & Vincenzi and students of the Laban Dance Centre, London.

2009   "At Play" (17 mins multi-screen video installation) and other AV works, group show, ‘Christmas Contemporaries’ at Collyer Bristow Gallery, London

2009    "Sea Values" (17 mins 35mm) Conference screening at Persistance/Resistance documentary film festival/seminar, Poona India 09, and at the British South Asian Theatre Conference, Exeter University

2008   "Bhakti and the Blues" Audio Visual design project accompanying a theatre performance by the same title. Collaboration with Vayu Naidu theatre company (toured to Edinburgh Festival and other UK-based festivals)

Roysten Abel directed in collaboration with Smita Bharti

2001-2 "Hide and Seek" A two-part 30-minute art documentary in which Delhi
childrens’ perception of ‘Success & Failure’ is explored

2000 "On the Moon a Tiger" A 30 minute documentary on Hindu ritual and secular
performance traditions in which children play an essential role in India

1999 "The Dark in the Light" A 15 minute DVcam video artwork shot in the Arctic
Commissioned by a Dutch Shipping company, Oceanwide

1997 "Gabriel", (originally 16mm, then 90-minute interactive video installation)
artwork. Commissioned by the Dutch Railways Arts Board.

Performance Projects (directing and curating):

2011 "Pageant of Great Women" (commissioned by director, Anna Birch). I directed/edited a documentary (28 mins, HD) of a theatre production by suffragette playwright, Cecily Hamilton's (1910) in Birch's contemporary re-framing.

2006 "Tell Me" 45-minute studio theatre performance. Supported by the Menagerie

Working with female inmates and based on their experiences using
